Why do we use soy wax?
Paraffin wax, sometimes known as ‘mineral’ wax, used in most candle manufacturing, is a by-product of refining crude oil into petroleum. Whilst it is cheap and easy to work with, it contains a number of toxins, including carcinogens such as toluene and benzene which can build up in unventilated rooms.
Soy wax, being a natural vegetable wax, burns very cleanly and contains no toxic compounds.
Why do we use essential oils?
Most candle manufacturers use synthetic chemicals, known as ‘fragrance oils’ to scent their candles. Whilst this allows them to create any imaginable scent, they often contain toxic compounds that are then released into the home.
Essential oils are completely natural and are even believed to have health benefits!
Why a cotton and paper wick?
Many wicks used in candle-making have a metal core or include heavy metal compounds to support the wick structure and raise the burn temperature. Again, these release harmful chemicals, such as lead and cadmium into the atmosphere of the home.
We only use pure cotton and paper wicks, ensuring that our candles are natural and healthy.
